In connection with the publishing of a CD with Olivier Messiaen´s “Harawi” (50 minutes) and “Trois Melodies” (8 minutes) on NAXOS International 2009 we offer concerts with this music or as extracts together with better known repertoire such as Wagner´s “Wesendonk” lieder. In our repertoire we also have several lieder by Schubert, Strauss, Mahler, Nielsen, Koppel, Poulenc, Debussy and Duparc.
Ever since Hetna Regitze Bruun and Kristoffer Hyldig first met at the annual summer course with “The Danish Song Society” in 2006. They have been working together continuously as a duo, especially with focus on spreading the knowledge of Oliver Messiaen´s music, and to which they have succeeded greatly by giving concerts in Aarhus Concert Hall, Aalborg Art Museum, in “The Danish Song Society´s” concert series and at the launching of the lobby concerts in the new Danish Radio´s Concert Hall (studio 4).
Messiaen´s music is overwhelming and seductive. It challenges the mind and embraces a wide range of emotions; it can be heartfelt and contemplative, it can be all about love and excitement or it revolves about death and the darker sides of life. The composer mixes simple melodies, delicate harmonies and brutal cacophony. Messiaen was greatly interested in and inspired by Wagner´s “Tristan and Isolde”, Peruvian folklore, bird song and Indian rhythms which all have left traces in both his music and texts (also written by him) which exude religious mysticism. Death is always present and the lovers are not truly united here below but in an extraterrestrial place and in eternity.

Hetna Regitze Bruun graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen in 2004 with Bodil Øland as her teacher. She had her soloist debut from The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus in 2008. During the years Hetna has attended several master classes with singers such as Anne Sofie von Otter, Philip Langridge and Andreas Schmidt and pianists like Rudolf Jansen, Helmut Deutsch and Malcolm Martineau. Hetna gives recitals both in Denmark and abroad; she has performed at the Danish Embassy in Berlin, Aalborg Art Museum, Aarhus Concert Hall and Art Center Silkeborg Bad. She made her début at The Funen Opera, as 1st Lady in Mozart´s Magic Flute and she was a soloist in the newly composed opera “Han, Den, Det” (He, It) at Takkelloftet, one of the main stages at the Opera, Copenhagen. In the British Art Film ”Feature” (director Shezad Dawood) she had a lead role as Valkyrie. The movie is shown around British art museums.
Kristoffer Hyldig has recently graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Music´s quota line with Tove lønskov as his teacher, and at present he studies at the advanced post-graduate diploma programme (RDAM) with Niklas Siveloev as his teacher. Already, Kristoffer takes an active part in the Danish music scene as a chamber musician as well as an accompanist. He has been a soloist with orchestra in Tivoli where he played Gershwin´s “Rhapsody in Blue”, and he has played with Aalborg Symphony Orchestra. He has recorded the piano sound track in a film produced by Zentropa. KH has had private lessons with Zara Pirumian and Amalie Malling, and has attended master classes with teachers such as Pierre Réach, Bengt Forsberg, Malcolm Martineau, Rudolf Jansen and the piano duo Taal/Groethuysen. KH has been awarded the 1st prize at the RDAM´s Mozart competition, and in 2007 he got a grant from the Jacob Gade Foundation. In 2008 KH has performed many of Messiaen´s compositions, for example the gigantic piano piece “Vingt Regards sur l´Enfant-Jésus”.
